Dr. Kristen Haviland was raised in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Her father is also a veterinarian, so she grew up surrounded by animals. She knew from an early age that she wanted to follow in his footsteps!
Dr. Haviland earned a B.A. in Biology from Middlebury College in Vermont. After finishing veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania she moved to San Francisco. Dr. Haviland worked at a small animal practice in San Mateo before joining Pets Unlimited in January 2006.
She lives in San Francisco with her husband, Dr. David Sierra (also a Pets Unlimited vet!). Their menagerie includes their sons, Willoughby (a black lab mix), Huxley (an exuberant golden retriever), Wrigley (world’s best cat) and Phyllis (a tuxedo cat who thinks she’s a princess). Outside of work, Dr. Haviland enjoys road biking, hiking and all things outdoors!
