Development Associate

We are currently seeking a Development Associate to join our advancement team. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Director of Development and Marketing (DMD), as well as the Marketing and Communication Department, to achieve and expand upon our annual fundraising goals.  Your primary focus will be to support the DMD in all fundraising efforts of the organization including individual, corporate, foundation and event management. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of cultivation and stewardship approaches for donors and community prospects.

  • Manage mass outreach efforts such as our Annual Direct Mail Campaigns as well as monthly and quarterly newsletter mailings. 

  • Process all donations from multiple sources (mail, website, donation boxes) and produce weekly and monthly reports. 

  • Generate and mail gift acknowledgments.

  • Manage the Raisers Edge donor database; resolve any data, gift acknowledgment or income balance issues as well as efficiency of data and accuracy of addresses

  • Track development activities for effectiveness and donor progression

  • Assist Marketing and Communications team when needed with writing and editing content for relevant media and collateral including print newsletter, press releases, solicitation letters and other materials. 

  • Develop materials and language to effectively communicate the mission and vision of Pets Unlimited.

  • Provide support for outreach events; responsibilities including organizing logistics, producing correspondences, tracking responses, making follow-up calls as needed, overseeing event planning and production.

  • Filing, photocopying, faxing and other administrative tasks as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software with a minimum of two years experience

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, Publisher, Quark, FrontPage and Adobe

  • Good organizational skills

  • Ability to attend to details

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with staff, Trustees, donors, and the public

  • Excellent time and project management skills

  • Self starter

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of dedicated individuals

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • A passion for the Pets Unlimited mission and vision

Salary Range

$19 to $21 per hour DOE.
